Exquisite, high quality honeys from an area by the sea with 73% uncontaminated woodlands
One of the most famous fake news stories
that have made the rounds in all media old and new is the totally false phrase
attributed to Albert Einstein created by French beekeepers during a protest
rally in 1994: 'When bees disappear man will only have 4 years left to live'.
There was enough truth in this phrase to scare people into going viral (more than
80 per cent of wild plants depend on pollinating insects and as many as 71 of
the 100 species of crops that provide 90 per cent of the world's food depend on
bees visiting).
We like to think that Ligurian honey has
something extra for the simple fact that in our region there are hardly any
large industrially cultivated extensions, and the small and medium-sized
agricultural producers are almost all located inland or in the areas close to
the sea, impervious and wooded areas that account for 73.4% of the territory
against the national average of 36.4%. Exquisite and of high quality are the
products and honeys of artisan farms.
On Youliguria.it, with the Ligurian
Region's Craftsmen of Quality label, the Agriturismo Artemisia (Montoggio,
Genoa hinterland), the Frantoio e Molino Ambrosini (Sarzana, Val di Vara honey)
and the Frantoio Ghiglione (Dolcedo, Imperia) produce honey.
