Nouveau style. They are typical products of Sassello, well known, appreciated
and imitated.
They look like small semi-spheres with a cracked surface and a
soft interior and are made with sugar, almonds and egg white. They give off a
characteristic almond fragrance and have a hint of "amaretto" to the
taste, from which their name derives.
The typical macaroons of Sassello have
been known since 1860.
