In the 14th century,
gold and silver work was concentrated in the Genoese area and was the
prerogative of the Goldsmiths' Guild, highly specialised and renowned
throughout the Mediterranean basin.
In Campo Ligure, the art of filigree -
protected by the regional quality mark 'Artigiani In Liguria' (Artisans in
Liguria) - took shape, a particular and complex technique with which very thin
threads of gold or silver are woven together to create precious embroideries.
Today, this ancient knowledge is revived in glamorous and contemporary
jewellery in the shape and unusual combination of different materials and
stones.
