For the
tenth edition of the European Artisan “Gelato Day”, on 24 March, the flavour
chosen is the “Dolce Sinfonia” (Sweet symphony), based on hazelnut and
chocolate. The European Artisan Gelato Day is back, created to promote and
spread the culture and consumption of artisan gelato.
To
celebrate the tenth edition, the Dolce Sinfonia has been chosen for 24 March
2022, a particularly delicious combination of flavours: hazelnut and chocolate,
"mixed" and interpreted by Ligurian master artisans, who have tried
their hand at creating the original recipe and personalising it. To do so, they
used one or more ingredients from our region: among them, Chiavari hazelnuts,
Cabannina and Val di Vara ricotta, local figs, Casella wild apples, Val Trebbia
and Montoggio honey, Savona chinotto macaroons, Prescinsêua, rosewater from the
Genoa hinterland, raw Ligurian milk, Vermentino wine and Lunigiana chestnut
flour.
Among the
many Ligurian businesses taking part, the Genoese Cremeria delle Erbe (in
Piazza delle Erbe) and Gelateria Capriccio (Via di Porta Soprana, 29), which
this morning offered a taste of their personal "Dolci Sinfonie" on
the occasion of the launch of Gelato Day.
In Liguria,
there are 682 pastry and ice-cream businesses, 573 of which are artisan, out of
a total of over 3,000 food craft businesses in the region (Unioncamere-Movimprese
data, 2021). The micro-enterprises are distributed in the provinces as follows:
266 pastry and ice cream parlours in Genoa, 190 in Savona, 125 in La Spezia,
101 in Imperia.
Ice cream
parlours are also among the 23 sectors that can boast the prestigious
"Artigiani In Liguria" (Artisans in Liguria) mark, promoted by the
Region together with the chamber of commerce and association system.
