With a manufacturing tradition and culture behind it that dates back to the 16th century, Cordani manufactures extraordinarily beautiful fabrics and produces handmade men's and women's clothing and home furnishing fabrics.
In Zoagli one of the
most beautiful villages in eastern Liguria, at 21 Via San Pietro, in a
wonderful villa from which Portofino can be glimpsed, is the fine fabrics
showroom of Seterie Cordani. This artisan firm hands down and promotes the
ancient tradition of Ligurian weaving, which developed in Zoagli itself
starting in the 1500s, and is the sole producer of "smooth Genoese
velvet," for centuries the most compact and shiny velvet in the
world. Handcrafted on historic 19th-century
looms, Cordani creates pure silk, chiseled or squared on a background of
satin or “gros de tours”, or else “a giardino” (like a garden) with different
colors.
All fabrics can be
enriched with pure gold and silver weaves, or with special dyes, and, because
of their characteristics, they lend themselves to multiple uses from luxury
furnishings (curtains, sofas, bedspreads) to clothing (women's men's tailored
suits, ceremony) to accessories (handbags, ties and original scarves).
