Vanessa Cavallaro makes and engraves unique
pieces of glass and crystal in her studio. Some
of her glass fantasies reproduce heraldic shields,
noblemen’s crests, monograms, and copies of
works of art. All her incision work is made by
hand, using engraver’s wheels of stone-ceramics
or copper with abrasives that allow her to make
a silky, translucent incisions onto the glass. Engraving
a hollow crystal object gives it a new soul,
and creates ever new chromatic effects.
