The “Frantoio Ambrosini” can be reached by following Via dei Molini, which leads to the old Malaspina Castle in the Magra Valley. This mill has been producing high-quality extra-virgin olive oil since 1923, which is obtained only by mechanical pressing. The oil is cold pressed from high-quality fresh olive varieties, including Frantoio, Leccino and Moraiolo. It is not filtered, but decanted naturally in order to preserve its fragrance and aromas.
The scrupulous care used during the whole pressing process guarantees a top quality product, which since 1970 has collected a number of awards, including the 1st prize from the University of Bologna – Food Science, as best Ligurian oil. It also passed the 2007 and 2008 Alma Trophy international preselection at the Armonia International Olive Oil Competition, received a merit award at the Leivi Prize for the best oil of the provinces of Genoa and La Spezia and, lastly, was awarded the Gold Medal for loyalty to work and economic progress.
